Real life

Out in the wilds again, swimming in the river, I can leave behind any angst over having few friends, any cold shoulder treatment from messageboard cliques, and think more deeply about life.
Walking from house to river, between house and sheds, between barn and hilltank, is walking with a purpose in pleasing surroundings. That beats walking to nowhere on a gym treadmill. I can experience the challenges of living outside a comfort zone, all while doing something useful (preparing land to support food production).

O wow. Who needs friends with ponds like that.
not a pond -- a smoothly flowing river (never stagnant) with half a kilometre of pools and rapids and rocky or grassy riverbank, overhung with trees, within our property boundaries. By law we own down to midstream of the river.
